Terms of Service
The terms that apply to work carried out by Tap Set Plumbing, and to this website.
Last updated: 14 August 2026
These terms apply to plumbing work carried out by Tap Set Plumbing and to your use of this website. Engaging me to carry out work means you accept them. If anything here does not suit your situation, ring me before the work starts and we will agree something in writing instead.
1. Quotes and pricing
- You will be given a price before work begins. Where the full extent of a problem cannot be seen without investigation, you will be given a price for the investigation first, and a price for the repair once the cause is known.
- If what I find changes the scope of the job, I will stop and talk to you about it before continuing. You will not receive an invoice for work you did not agree to.
- Written quotes are valid for 30 days unless stated otherwise. Material prices can move, and a quote may be revised after that period.
- Quotes cover the work described in them. Pre-existing defects, non-compliant work by others, asbestos, or conditions that could not reasonably be seen at quoting are not included and will be discussed with you if they come up.
2. Payment
- Payment is due on completion unless other terms have been agreed in writing.
- Accepted methods: Cash, Card, Bank transfer.
- An itemised invoice is issued for every job.
- Larger jobs may require a deposit to cover materials. This will always be agreed up front.
3. Access and site conditions
- You need to make sure I can safely get to the work area at the agreed time, including access to water and power isolation points where relevant.
- Please move valuables and fragile items away from the work area before I arrive. Care is always taken, but plumbing work is disruptive by nature.
- Please secure pets. It is safer for them and it lets me get on with the job.
- If nobody is home and I cannot get access at the agreed time, a call-out charge may apply for the wasted visit.
4. Workmanship guarantee
- My workmanship is guaranteed. If work I have carried out fails because of how it was done, ring me and I will return and put it right at no cost to you.
- Materials and appliances carry their manufacturer's warranty. Where a supplied product fails, I will help you pursue that warranty.
- The guarantee does not cover fair wear and tear, misuse, damage caused by others, failure of parts you supplied yourself, or new faults elsewhere in the system unrelated to the work performed.
- Where a blockage is cleared but you decline the recommended repair to the underlying cause, a recurrence of that blockage is not covered.
5. Customer-supplied materials
You are welcome to supply your own tapware, fixtures or appliances. Products installed in Australia must carry WaterMark certification where it applies, and gas appliances must be approved for Australian sale and suit the gas type at your property. My guarantee covers my installation, not the product itself. If a product you supplied is faulty or unsuitable, the return and any additional labour are your responsibility.
6. Compliance certificates
Work that legally requires a compliance certificate will be certified and the certificate provided to you. Keep it — you will need it for insurance and when selling the property. I carry out work as a licensed & qualified plumber.
7. Cancellation
- Please give as much notice as you can if you need to cancel or reschedule. A phone call is fine.
- Where materials have already been ordered specifically for your job, or a specialist item has been purchased, those costs may be payable.
8. Liability
Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any guarantee, right or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law, including the consumer guarantees that services will be provided with due care and skill. Those rights apply regardless of anything written here.
Beyond those rights, liability is limited to re-performing the work or paying the cost of having it re-performed. I am not liable for pre-existing defects, for damage arising from conditions that could not reasonably have been identified, or for consequential loss such as lost income.
9. Emergency work
In an emergency the immediate priority is stopping further damage. Emergency work may be carried out on a make-safe basis first, with a permanent repair quoted afterwards. Where a rate rather than a fixed price applies, you will be told before the work starts.
10. This website
The content on this site is general information about the services offered. It is not advice for your specific property or situation, and it should not be relied on as a substitute for having someone qualified look at the actual job. Prices, availability and service descriptions may change without notice. Nothing on this website constitutes a binding offer — a quote for your job does.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia.
