Backflow prevention devices stop contaminated water being drawn back into the drinking water supply. Thermostatic mixing valves keep the hot water at a safe temperature at the outlet so vulnerable people are not scalded.
Both are legally required to be tested and certified annually by a licensed plumber with the relevant endorsement, and the results lodged with the water authority. Miss it and you are exposed — both to a compliance notice and to the liability if something goes wrong.
I test, service and certify both, and I will give you a reminder when the next one is due so it does not lapse.
